BABA'S CHECKERBOARD DISHCLOTH



Baba’s Checkerboard Dishcloth

MATERIALS
Cotton yarn, Medium weight, such as Bernat Handicrafter. Shown in Beach Ball Blue.
Knitting needles 4mm
Scissors
Crochet hook or darning needle to weave in ends

ABBREVIATIONS
K = knit
P = purl
K2tog = knit two together (decrease 1)
YO = yarn over (increase 1)
St = stitch
Rep = repeat

INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 36
Edge Rows
Row 1: K1, k2tog, yo; k to 3 sts from end of row; yo, k2tog, k1
Row 2: Rep row 1
Checkerboard Pattern
Row 1: K1, k2tog, yo; k6, p6, k6, p6, k6; yo, k2tog, k1
Row 2: K1, k2tog, yo; p6, k6, p6, k6, p6 ; yo, k2tog, k1
Rep Pattern Rows 1 & 2 two more times (3 times total)
Row 7: K1, k2tog, yo; p6, k6, p6, k6, p6 ; yo, k2tog, k1
Row 8: K1, k2tog, yo; k6, p6, k6, p6, k6; yo, k2tog, k1
Rep Pattern Rows 7 & 8 two more times (3 times total)
Repeat the 12 rows of the Checkerboard Pattern until you have 36 Checkerboard rows, plus the 2 Edge Rows. Repeat the 2 Edge Rows one more time, for a total of 40 rows. Bind off. Weave in all ends.
